Aayan Afzal Khan of the United Arab Emirates made history on Sunday when, at the age of 16 years and 335 days, he became the youngest player in an ICC T20 World Cup game. In a Group A first-round encounter at Geelong against the Netherlands, Aayan was a member of the UAE starting XI.

When Aayan came to bat on Sunday, the all-rounder overtook the previous record held by former Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir. In 2009, when Amir was 17 years and 55 days old, he participated in his first T20 World Cup game.
In the three overs of bowling throughout the game, Khan gave up only 15 runs and claimed one wicket.

Who Is Aayan Afzal Khan?
Aayan Afzal Khan is a young cricketer from the United Arab Emirates. He has been in the news because he recently became the youngest player participating in the current T20 World Cup in Australia.
He was born on November 15, 2005, in UAE with his height at 5 feet 6 inches. He is a right-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who will be competing for the UAE in the 2022 T20 World Cup. His home base is Sharjah.
His Career
At the age of 16 years and 314 days, Aayan Afzal Khan made his national team debut when the UAE faced Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium. The all-rounder was able to dismiss Litton Das throughout the game.
The youngster was also instrumental in the UAE Under-19 team’s Under-19 World Cup victory over the West Indies earlier this year.
Aayan Afzal Khan has participated in three T20I games thus far, recording 30 runs and four wickets on the way.
In 34 one-day domestic matches, he has participated, tallying 551 runs in 27 innings with an average of 26.24 and a top score of 56. In the aforementioned games, he also claimed a total of 53 wickets with an economy of 3.73.
