His tireless efforts in developing the careers of badminton greats such as P. Gopichand, Saina Nehwal, P. Kashyap, Trupti Murugunde, Ashwini Ponnappa, and previously Manjusha Pawangadkar, Aparna Popat and more.
The two-time national champion who led his country to Olympic gold in Barcelona in 1992 is also known for his humility and friendliness on the sidelines and his willingness to share his wealth of coaching experience with his players and fellow coaches.

The 2022 Commonwealth Gold Medalist Lakshya Sen and his brother Chirag Sen are accused of forging their age to play age-group matches and compete at junior levels since 2010 and Lakshya and Chirag’s parents, Dhirendra Sen and Nirmala Sen, and former coach U. Vimal Kumar are also held accountable for fraudulence in the FIR.
All five of them have been charged with forgery under Section 468, acts done by several persons of common intention under Section 34, cheating under Section 420, and using a forged document as genuine under Section 471 as per the Indian Penal Code.

During his time as a professional athlete in England, he was under contract with the sportswear manufacturer Slazenger. The contract stipulated that he and the others under it would be required to instruct at various sports and recreation centres around the United Kingdom. He would often go there and provide lessons to the local kids on the basics of the sport. English women’s champion Gillian Gilks, who had just recently retired, was also scheduled to appear.
After work, he would head over to the All England Club to conduct lessons there. After that, I went back to India and helped build the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy alongside Prakash Padukone (PPBA).
