King Charles aka The Alpha Dog has been challenged by Tyrant
The most intimidating person on the internet is a medium-sized dog Changmao with unbrushed hair, an off-white coat, and little interest in showmanship.
Changmao doesn’t pose, chase, or bark. He simply trots over and puts a paw or two, depending on the loudmouth on whoever is disturbing the calm in the pack.

This month, videos of Changmao have been reposted thousands of times, mostly with admiring nicknames and curious attempts to decipher his aura. Although Changmao is his given name, he is frequently referred to online as “King Charles.”
The videos are from 僡子大叔爱犬部落, a Douyin account owned by a Chinese man who characterizes dog-raising as a pastime. As of May, 2025, the page, which has 800,000 likes and 76,000 followers, focuses primarily on group dynamics among dogs at what looks to be a private kennel or shelter.
In the Uncle Beard Dog Tribe, one dog, Changmao (“long hair”), is always the main attraction. Medium-sized and shaggy, he usually approaches barking and unruly canines without any sense of urgency.
The troublemakers instantly fall down and go belly up when they see the Boss. Changmao touches them tenderly with his paws. There is hardly any snarling or biting; Changmao seems to reign by sheer willpower.

However, Changmao didn’t become known as “King Charles” until his videos were featured on the page of Instagram user @newlu_princess. In late May 2025, the user started publishing Uncle Beard’s Douyin films in large quantities. These videos, which portrayed Changmao as “King Charles,” a severe but just leader of a motley doggie tribe, amassed millions of views.
The viral video begins with a scene of chaos as several dogs are squared up, growling and puffing their chests. As the dogs get ready to scrap, one particularly loud dog tries to take charge and barks aggressively to intimidate the others. However, before anything escalates further, a white dog walks into the scene with a serene and effortless authority with everyone making way for King Charles whose insane aura sees him assert dominance without any barking. As the dog, nicknamed by viewers as “King Charles,” makes a commanding entrance, the other dogs immediately back down.

Even the largest dog in the group steps aside and all the dogs immediately stop barking and snapping. An Instagram user named @newlu_princess, who now has over 493K followers on the platform, was the person who originally posted the video. The user constantly posts new updates of the dog and his nemesis Rocky, with about 1,616 posts on her page.
While details about the owner and breed of King Charles who has now been dubbed the alpha dog for his aura aren’t officially known, he is believed to be a male Xiasi dog. The Xiasi dog is a rare chinese dog breed from the village of Xiasi, prefecture of Kaiili and they have wired coats, beige to white coloring, and are expert hunting and tracking dogs.
While King Charles’ main nemesis has been a black dog named Rocky, he now has a new challenger in the form of Tyrant. Tyrant who is a white colored Labrador is being claimed by many as the new king of the pack after a string of videos not backing down infront of King Charles and facing off against his guards which includes a Cane Corse have gone viral.
Many have claimed that King Charles has gone onto lose his aura in the aftermath of his injury with Tyrant being touted as the new aura dog of the pack.

How Changmao became popular?
On May 19, @newlu_princess posted “King Charles” on Instagram and after that other accounts started posting videos of the dog.
On May 20th, they shared another video, this time showing Charles giving a contrite barker a quick snout-lick and forgiving him.
