Who is TWG tea shop security guard Abdullah who stopped Ioan Pintaru during Leicester Square, London stabbing attack

Know more about the tragic Leicester Square incident as the authorities have apprehended a 32-suspect who reportedly stabbed two on Monday morning and was stopped by TWG tea shop guard Abdullah in London

For the unversed, earlier, reports emerged indicating that an 11-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother were stabbed in Leicester Square.

Following, the tragic incident, the Metropolitan police have captured age 32 Ioan Pintaru. As per reports, the authorities believe he is the only suspect in the case.

Earlier, the London Ambulance service was called at the Leicester Square at around 11:36 a.m. on Monday, after witness present at the scene reported the case of stabbing.

Ioan Pintaru, 32, of no fixed address, was arrested in the attack charged with possession of a bladed article.

A security guard named Abdullah from the TWG tea shop, later came forward and described the incident, as he revealed how he tackled the attacker, disarmed him as he witnessed him stabbing the two people.

Abdullah, 29 who is a Muslim by religion said he intervened to stop the attacker and, with help from colleagues, gave first aid to the child.

He revealed that he held the attacker down until other people came to assist him.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the ambulance service spokesperson said that they “sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer.”

As per the spokesperson, they also “dispatched members of our tactical response unit.”

What Did the Police Say?

As per the authorities, officers arrived at the scene within four minutes of being called. A man was later arrested and is currently in custody. The Met police provided emergency first aid to the victims before paramedics arrived shortly thereafter.

The 11-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, while her mother sustained minor injuries. As per the police officials, there is “no suggestion” the incident is “terror-related.”

What Did the Witness Reveal?

As aforesaid, a 29-year-old security guard, identified as Abdullah, revealed that he “heard a scream,” and then saw a man, approximately in “his mid-30s or early 30s,” stabbing a child.

Abdullah, who worked at the TWG tea shop, said that he “jumped on him grabbed the hand holding the knife, and forced him to the ground, taking the knife away.”

He furthermore added that later a few “other joined in, and we held him,” until the authorities arrived at the scene.

The guard added that he and his colleagues administered first aid to the child until the authorities arrived.

A 45-year-old witness identified as Desmond, who performs as Darth Vader in the Leicester Square, described the suspect as a young male wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. Another security guard, identified, Rahul, who works at a nearby Greggs, told the media how he stepped outside after hearing a girl crying.

At the time of writing this article, the authorities hasn’t revealed any information about the suspect or motive behind the stabbing.
