Turkey’s Yusuf Dikec won a silver medal in the Mixed team 10-metre air pistol at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Dikec went viral after the win not just for his performance but the manner in which he won it. Unlike the other Olympic shooters, Dikec competed without using ear protection and specialized glasses, whilst keeping one hand in pocket.

Yusuf Dikec bio
Yusuf Dikec is a Turkish sport shooter who was born on January 1, 1973 in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye. Dikec is a right-handed shooter and competes in the pistol events. He is a retired non-commissioned officer of the Turkish Gendarmerie. Yusuf is a part of the Jandarma Gücü Sports Kulubu Dernegi Club and recently won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the Mixed Team 10-metre air pistol.
He began his military career by enrolling in the Military School of Gendarmerie in 1994 after completing his secondary education and upon graduating from the military school, Dikec was appointed as a Corporal in the Turkish armed forces and was stationed in Madrain.

Yusuf Dikec has had a long career as a shooter and is one of the most renowned veterans in Turkey. Dikec started his professional career back in 2001 and has so has represented the country across 5 different Olympics – 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024.
The veteran shooter notably won a Double world champion in the 25m standard pistol and 25m centre fire pistol back in 2014. Just last year, the Turkish shooter won a silver in 10m air pistol mixed team in 2023. Notably, Dikec is a seven-time European champion, and won the air pistol trio in 2024 in Gyor earlier this year. He is now an Olympic medallist after winning a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
