Fallon Fox is the first openly transgender athlete in the history of MMA. She was born on November 29th, 1975.

Organizations, critics, and, unexpectedly, even combatants have attacked her for having an unfair physical advantage over her female coworkers since she was born with the masculine gender.

Because of the California State Athletic Commission’s growing reluctance to accept her licencing practices, media outlets and newspapers got into a frenzy.

It got to the point that even MMA expert and analyst Joe Rogan felt obligated to provide his polarising opinion:

She’s a transgender, post-op person. The operation doesn’t shave down your bone density. It doesn’t change. You look at a man’s hands and you look at a woman’s hands and they’re built different.”

Rogan contributed to a response to VICE Media’s position on the matter as well:

But Fox would ultimately get her big break on March 2, 2013, when she defeated Ericka Newsome at CFA 10.

As the ambiguity around Fallon Fox’s licencing practises grew, CFA co-founder Jorge De La Noval decided to postpone their case.

However, he did have a point to make in support of the warrior. He said that she is always welcome in their promotion as long as she has a licence. They back her wholeheartedly and from the front.

On April 8, 2013, Matt Mitrione, a former UFC fighter, told Fallon Fox with questionable transphobic slurs.

Because of the UFC’s strong ties to the LGBT community, Mitrione was promptly suspended and given an undisclosed fine.

In an interview with the New York Post, Ronda Rousey, the former UFC bantamweight champion, asserted that she was capable of submitting any opponent anywhere in the world. She didn’t, however, omit what was obvious to many, including herself.

Did Fallon Fox ever lose?

Fallon Fox is unquestionably a superb martial artist. Even those who are thought to be at the top, though, occasionally suffer unexpected setbacks.

Ashlee Evans-Smith was Fox’s opponent when she suffered her first loss at CFA 12 on October 12, 2013.

The UFC has become well-known for featuring female fighters, but controversy still surrounds the organisation’s decision to allow transgender athletes to compete. Her current record is at 5-1.
