On Saturday, July 8, Rikkie Valerie Kollé was named Miss Netherlands 2023. Successor to Ona Moody, the Breda-based Dutch-Moluccan model and actress will now get ready to represent the Netherlands at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador.
The first runner-up was Amsterdam native Nathalie Mogbelzada, 26, while Miss Congeniality and Miss Social Media went to Habiba Mostafa and Lou Dirchs, respectively.
Rikkie Valerie Kolle Faces Backlash On Twitter
Kolle’s win didn’t go down well with many people in the Netherlands. Due to the continuing culture war that raises concerns about transitioned biological males competing in women’s beauty pageants, the majority of them referred to her as a “male” while referring to her.
One person on Twitter wrote, “There are 8.7 million women who live in the Netherlands. Why, then, did they need to pick a man to win their Miss Netherlands contest? What a disgrace.”
Another wrote, “A geezer won the competition. Our entire civilization needs obliteration so we can start again.”

Who is Rikkie Valerie Kolle?
The 22-year-old is a Breda-based actress and model who is Dutch Moluccan. She now succeeds Ona Moody and will get ready to compete in the eagerly anticipated 72nd Miss Universe competition in El Salvador in 2023.
She will be the second transgender contestant to represent her country at Miss Universe, following Spain’s Angela Ponce in 2018.
Being A Role Model To Queer Community
Kolle aspires to represent her Queer community and serve as a role model, according to World360news.
She said that she would devote her professional life to supporting people going through a life change who have experienced family rejection. Nobody, in her opinion, should be able to obstruct another person’s genuineness.
Kolle had to overcome several obstacles on her own before she could achieve her goals. She has experienced a variety of difficulties since coming out as transgender. Despite everything, she is devoted to her family and sees them as a crucial source of strength and support.
