Kalen Walker wins 100-Meter Big Ten title

Kalen Walker who went to Indian Hills CC is a fifth-year senior from Eddyville, Iowa, who recently clinched the men’s 100-meter title at the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He won the title with a time of 10.17 seconds and came as a part of the final day’s events of the competition.  The victory marked Iowa’s first win in the event since 2013 and Walker is just the fifth Hawkeye to achieve the feat. During the final race, Walker notably managed to beat USC’s Eddie Nketia by just 0.01 seconds.

Over the past few years, Walker has grown into one of the Hawkeyes’ most explosive sprinters, gaining a reputation for his quick starts and powerful finishes. College career and achievements

Kalen Walker has so far enjoyed a successful college career after receiving no Division I offers out of high school. He began his collegiate career at Indian Hills Community College before making a transfer to the University of Iowa. He has seemingly overcome numerous injuries and setbacks before achieving his championship win. Walker made a breakthrough with his 100-meter win at the Big Ten Championships. Following the win, Walker became Iowa’s first individual 100m champion since 2013. Kalen Walker’s win proved to be significant for the Hawkeyes as the Iowa men’s team finished seventh overall with 59 points. Meanwhile, the women placed eighth with 47 points.

Kalen Walker, a sprinter at the University of Iowa, ran a 4.15-second 40-yard dash back in 2024, the second-fastest unofficial time ever recorded for the event.

He became an individual Big Ten champion in 2025 for the first time in his career on Sunday, winning the 100 meters in 10.17 at Hayward Field.
