Strela Luwang is the sixth kid of eight siblings and she is a native of Uripok Bachaspati, Imphal, Manipur. Strela finished her studies in the subject of International Business and she later worked in various companies. Strela is deeply interested in music, playing guitar, Kalimba, and Ukulele. Born into the Thounaojam family, across the hills and dense forests surrounding the serene place called Manipur she was Diagnosed with epilepsy at a very young age due to stress and anxiety induced by bullying. She feels that mental health is as important, if not more, than physical health and so she became an avid messenger of mental health.
Strela Luwang career
In 2017, Strela Luwang was the winner of the Miss Manipur title. The event was held at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre in Imphal on 16th December 2017.
At the Northeast Indian edition of Miss Diva, she won the title of “Miss Rampwalk for 2016 – 2017.
Strela Luwang after being bullied by her classmates, her friends, colleagues, and even her teachers in her school days, decided to dedicate herself “to encouraging child-friendly education without the discrimination of any gender identity”.
She faced a number of problems participating in pageants. She was not having enough money to buy dresses for her pageants so she decided to collect second-hand clothes. She mentioned that hosting Femina Miss India 2023 in Manipur is going to motivate a number of women to fulfill their dreams.
She has survived anxiety and epilepsy attacks in the past. During her teen years, Strela got diagnosed with depression and she was compelled to leave her school education for two years. At the age of 10, this pageant holder found her art of writing. Luwang took social activism to create awareness of mental health.
