Theo Pourchaire family
Theo Pourchaire was born to parents Jerome and Sandrine Pourchaire. Jerome was a big racing fan who encouraged his son to go karting regularly at an early age. In fact, his parents were very supportive that they financed his career up until he reached Formula 3. Theo also has an older sister, named Pauline Pourchaire, who is 8 years older than him. The pair share a close bond, and she often drove him to his races when he started out as a racer.
Theo Pourchaire career
Theo began his professional racing career when he first entered open-wheel racing in the French Formula 4 series and later in the ADAC Formula 4 series in 2018 and 2019, respectively. During his rookie season, he won the Championships and joined Formula 3 the following year.
In the Formula 3 competition, Theo built a rivalry with another rookie named Oscar Piastri who both battled for the Championship throughout the entire season. While Oscar managed to win the competition, Theo came close behind in 2nd place, just 3 points behind. Notably, Piastri and Sargeant have now entered Formula 1 after making their debut earlier this year. Pourchaire eventually joined Formula 2 for the 2021 season and secured his first win during his rookie season at one of the most prestigious circuits in the world, the infamous street circuit in Monaco.
Theo Pourchaire scored 140 points by the end of his rookie season as a driver for the Sauber Academy. He finished in 5th place in the WDC, while he finished in 2nd place in the 2022 F2 Championship. Theo then entered the 2023 Formula 2 season with strong hopes of winning it. He faced a strong challenge from PREMA Racing’s Frederick Vesti but managed to eventually win the championship that year.
Since Theo is currently a Sauber Academy driver, as such, he will be looking to race for Sauber in the F1 in the future. As of now, Sauber does not have an open seat in F1 for the 2024 season; as such, he will most probably miss out on joining the competition in the upcoming season. However, Theo Pourchaire could potentially replace Sauber drivers Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu in the 2025 season. For the upcoming 2024 season, Theo will likely serve as a reserve driver for Sauber.
