Paul Doyle has been identified as the driver who crashed into Liverpool’s victory parade
Seven charges have been brought against driver Paul Desmond Doyle of a vehicle that crashed into a crowd during Liverpool’s triumph celebration, injuring 79 people.
The culprit in Monday’s automobile incident during Liverpool FC’s Premier League triumph parade, which left 80 people injured, was named as Paul Desmond Doyle, 53, of West Derby, Liverpool.

The Merseyside Police named Paul Desmond Doyle, a local businessman and former member of the Royal Navy, as the suspect on Thursday. The police had previously ruled out terrorism as the reason for his actions, but they are now looking into “a huge volume of evidence.” He has been charged with both dangerous driving and attempted murder.

Doyle lives in the West Derby area of Liverpool with his wife and three teenage children and neighbours have described the family as “nice” and said the children are well-behaved. According to reports, his wife found out about the crash after recognising the car, a grey Ford Galaxy on the news. Details about his family members and their names aren’t known though.
Paul Desmond Sanders Doyle is a former Royal Marine commando and served during the 1990s before moving into a career in IT and cybersecurity.
He later studied psychology and maths at a Russell Group university and has worked in various management roles, including as a network security consultant for an NHS Trust and is also said to have competed in triathlons and has previously shared photos from luxury holidays abroad.
Doyle is a White British male by ethnicity and a Christian by religion.
Doyle has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent along with one count of dangerous driving.
Doyle has three teenage sons and has been married to his wife for 20 years. According to reports, the family resides on an estate in a detached four-bedroom house worth £300,000. Social media pictures show the family having a great time on vacation, including beach vacations, Florida, Dubai, and Disneyland.

According to his internet profiles, he has taken many trips, visiting countries in Asia such as Japan, Fiji, India, and Australia. Additionally, he shared photos of himself climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and competing in triathlons on the internet.
He previously owned a number of enterprises, and enterprises House lists a number of his former retail operations as dissolved.
He is a former Royal Marine Commando who is reportedly employed in cybersecurity, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“The investigation is at an early stage. Prosecutors and police are continuing to work at pace to review a huge volume of evidence,” Sarah Hammond, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, said at a Thursday presser. “This includes multiple pieces of video footage and numerous witness statements.”
Incident explained
The event took place on Water Street in the heart of Liverpool about 6:00 p.m. BST. Thousands of Anfield supporters joined the celebrations as the Liverpool FC team celebrated their Premier League victory with an open bus procession.

However, the suspect injured nearly 80 people, including four children, when he crashed a Ford Galaxy into the Water Street crowd. According to Merseyside Police, the youngest victim was only nine years old, while the oldest was 79. Seven injured victims are still in the hospital, according to authorities on Wednesday, even though the majority of the casualties have been released.
