For the unfamiliar, this is the first time the assembly elections is being held in the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370. Let us remind you, the last elections in the region were held in 2014.

Though elections were scheduled to take place in 2019 too, however, they were postponed multiple times during to security concerns after the removal of Article 370.
What Did the Reports Reveal?
As per media reports, over the past five years, significant changes have been noted in the region, especially regarding the reduction of protests, stone pelting, and enhanced development.
Social media platforms, especially X/Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube is flooded with videos featuring people taking a stroll freely at night in Lal Chowk, Kashmir.
Despite this apparent progress, journalist Archana Tiwari of the Rajdharma YouTube channel, have reportedly uncovered that beneath the surface, the deep-rooted hostility toward Hindus still remains prevalent in the region.
Archana Tiwari is a content specialist and reporter at Rajdharma for whom she has been working for since 2018 and is also a news editor at The ManMauji. She has done her BCA from the Trinity Institute of Professional Studies (TIPS, Dwarka) and is from Delhi. She is currently single and unmarried. Archana is a Brahmin Hindu.
In her role as a journalist, Archana who set out with a microphone and camera traveled to rural areas of Jammu and Kashmir speaking with the locals.
While a few people acknowledged improvements in security and development, many allegedly disapprove of Hindus moving into the valley.
It wasn’t her inquires that sparked backlash but Tiwari’s way of probing into religious sentiments. During her coverage, the journalist posed direct and uncomfortable questions, such as asking Muslim local what would happen if Hindus were to settle in their village and built a temple.
To respond to these questions, the local claimed that they reportedly would burn the temple down. This was reportedly not an only instance, as various of her interviews across Kashmir revealed a widespread intolerance towards Hindus and the Indian government.

Meanwhile, many journalists alongside netizens came forward and condemned Archana Tiwari’s approach, calling it unethical for engaging less-educated Kashmiris on sensitive religious topics.
In addition, legal claims were also made against her with X user Mujeeb Masood Khan citing sections of the IPC, accusing Archana of promoting religious enmity.
