As per reports, the metallic horse rider has been identified as Floriane Issert, a non-commissioned officer in the Gendarmerie Nationale clad in silver armor. She concluded her journey at the Trocadero, presenting the Olympic flag with grandeur, though it was hoisted upside down.

Earlier, a figure in a black cloak, white hood, and dark fencing mask featured heavily in the three-hour ceremony directed by Thomas Jolly, which also included appearances from Lady Gaga, Zinedine Zidane, and, surprisingly, The Minions. The identity of the masked man hasn’t been revealed yet.

The spectacle included 85 boats carrying nearly 7,000 athletes from 205 countries along the River Seine, following a sabotage attack on high-speed rail networks that caused travel chaos across France.

This was the first Olympics opening ceremony held outside the main stadium, starting with Zidane running across Paris to ignite the flame for the procession.

The torch was then carried by children onto the Seine in a small boat before the mysterious torchbearer leaped across buildings and monuments.

Zidane met the masked torchbearer at the ceremony’s end, where the disguised figure handed the torch back to the French football legend before vanishing without revealing their identity.

Earlier, a rider galloping on a metallic horse and draped in a cape emblazoned with Olympic rings rode down the Seine, unfurling dove wings as she passed under Parisian bridges.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga performed a French cabaret song near Notre-Dame cathedral, while a giant plume of blue, white, and red smoke rose above a bridge over the Seine, and a winged man played an accordion.

The ceremony featured a fleet of barges carrying athletes along a 6 km stretch of the river past famous Paris landmarks, with Lady Gaga singing “Mon truc en plumes” surrounded by dancers.

Huge applause greeted the Greek boat, traditionally the first, and even louder cheers erupted for the refugees’ team.

Fountains sent jets of water into the Seine as athletes waved to the crowds amid a significant police presence.

Spectators enjoyed postcard-like scenes of France, including a huge cancan line performed by Moulin Rouge dancers on the banks.
