In a shocking turn of events at the FA Cup final, a Man United fan was arrested for wearing a shirt that made fun of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster but his name hasn’t been revealed
The disturbing shirt had the number 97 and the words “Not Enough” on it. This was a reference to the Hillsborough disaster, in which 97 Liverpool fans died. This happened because there was a crowd crush in Sheffield during an FA Cup semi-final game between Sheffield and Nottingham Forest.

Responding to the public’s outcry, the Metropolitan Police’s Events Twitter account confirmed the man’s arrest. Also they tweeted, “#ARREST We are aware of this and have worked proactively with officials at @wembleystadium to identify the individual.”
The arrested individual was then pictured handcuffed and being led to a police van. He was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and taken into custody. His identity hasn’t been revealed though with nothing known about him currently.

In the wake of this incident, both Manchester United and Liverpool had previously urged fans to stop ‘tragedy chanting’—the act of mocking opponents over past tragic events where fans have lost their lives. A Premier League working group involving clubs, the Football Association, English, and the Football Supporters’ Association was established this year to address this issue.
Amid controversy, Manchester City celebrates victory
Despite the unfortunate incident, the FA Cup final concluded with Manchester City clinching a 2-1 victory. Their win puts them on track to possibly secure the treble, with a Champions League Final looming.
However, the controversies did not end with the arrest. Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof was reportedly hit with an object from the crowd when United celebrated their equaliser. The Metropolitan Police are currently working with officials to review CCTV footage to identify the person responsible.
