Jubilee is currently streaming on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video, know on who is the web series based on
Jubilee is like a stunning painting and it will transport you back to the era of Indian cinema. This era was considered as the golden age of cinema. Vikramaditya’s series will help you to explore the initial years of Hindi cinema when visionary filmmakers had a different form of storytelling and also introduced viewers to playback music.
Who is the Jubilee web series based on and is it a true real story
Jubilee is written by Vikramaditya Motwane, Atul Sabharwal, and Soumik Sen. The series explores India in the 1940s when the nation was on the verge of partition and how the lives of millions of people were affected all across India.
It is based on Indian cinema’s first power couple Himanshu Rai and Devika Rani’s life. Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee is playing filmmaker and studio Roy Talkies head, Srikant Roy. Srikant is on the hunt for launching a new face ‘Madan Kumar’ in his next movie. His wife and the co-owner of Roy Talkies, Sumitra Devi who is played by Aditi Rao Hydari are the movie’s female lead.
After doing numerous auditions, Srikant had Jehangir Khan ( Nandish Singh Sandhu) as Madan Kumar. The problem out there is that Jehangir is having an affair with Sumitra Devi. The plan of these two is to elope to Karachi where Jehangir wants to follow a career in theatre.
Everything in the series is done with detailing. Costumes and set decoration are carried out beautifully. This web series has a terrific soundtrack courtesy of Amit Trivedi.
A number of subtle scenes make Jubilee a beautiful series. A tribute is also given to Raj Kapoor and Nargi’s romance. These moments when combined together have helped Jubilee in standing out.
Jubilee, though, does not have a defining impact as it’s a story that scratches only the surface and its grandeur overshadows the story and the performances. It also does not help that each episode is too long with too little happening on the screen.
5 episodes are out to date. Jubilee looks promising only for its cast and the grandeur which is coming with it. It needs your patience as the story has many layers to it.
