When Darwin was brought to the Primate Sanctuary, the local animal control staff took extra care of the monkey and fed him to help him get used to his new home. Over time, he got used to it and began to play with other monkeys.
Where Is The Ikea Monkey At This Very Moment?
Right now, Darwin is having the best time of his life. In an interview with BuzzFeed News, Daina Liepa, the volunteer executive director of the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Ontario, talked about Darwin and said, “He’s doing great. He is allowed to act like a monkey instead of a baby person.”
Daina Liepa added, “Darwin can go outside to an outdoor enclosure with other monkeys when he wants to, or he can stay inside and do other things we have for him.”
The Ikea Monkey’s favourite thing to do is use old fire hoses set up as a playground. “He loves to swing back and forth, which is something he would do in the wild,” Liepa said.
Lisa, who took the cute picture of Darwin looking out the window at an Ikea store in Toronto, told BuzzFeed News that she is glad she ran into the furry little guy almost ten years ago. She told the news organisation, “Darwin will always be in my mind.”
