Hannah Marth, a 26-year-old javelin teacher at Northampton Area High School in Pennsylvania, is accused of s*xually abusing a 17-year-old student-athlete for more than a year.
She has been charged with institutional s*xual assault and s*xual assault by a sports official. In a press statement from April 13, Northampton County District Attorney Terence Houck said that Marth and the boy had a “s*xual relationship” that began in May 2021.

In a statement about the case, D.A. Houck said, “An abuse of that relationship shows a coach’s blatant disregard for the well-being of those she or he coached, and above all – the law. This defendant defied that trust when she committed this alleged crime against the victim.”
Update on Hannah Marth arrest and school district response
Hannah Marth has since been fired from her job as a coach, and the superintendent of the Easton Area School District, David Piperato, said in a statement that Marth was a teacher at the district. In part of the statement, it says, “the School District intends to cooperate fully with the authorities in this matter and will take all necessary action to ensure the safety of our students.”
Hannah Marth was brought to court on April 13 and charged with the crimes. She is being held on unsupervised bail of $75,000. Also on April 27, she will have a preliminary hearing. No one knows for sure if she has hired a lawyer to speak on her behalf.
