Why McGregor is accused of sexual assault?
According to reports on Thursday, Conor McGregor was charged with assaulting a lady at Game 4 of the NBA Finals inside Miami’s Kaseya Centre, which featured Miami Heat vs. Denver Nuggets. To support this claim, one footage went viral that pictured McGregor entering the washroom alongside the accuser.
In the brief video, McGregor can be seen extending his hand to a woman and pointing her in the direction of the loo. It’s unclear what their motives were, whether the woman was dragged away against her will, or what part security had in the encounter.
It remains to be seen whether this claim and the investigation that is sure to follow will have an impact on Conor McGregor’s plans to return to the UFC this year for a fight against Michael Chandler. UFC, Miami Heat, & NBA have denied to comment on this incident until investigations are completed and truth of the matter is revealed.
How has Conor McGregor responded to the s(xual assault claims?
On Monday, Ariel Mitchell, who is working as the claimed victim’s attorney, wrote McGregor and his management a demand letter that contained significant allegations against the fighter, his security, & Miami Heat security. In the letter, Mitchell claimed that McGregor reportedly forced the woman into the loo, although the new video might refute that claim.
Additionally, McGregor’s counsel Barbara Llanes asserted that this incident is nothing more than a shakedown and the victim resorted to media after her demand letter wasn’t fruitful. He also revealed that McGregor is confident about his innocence in this matter and believes that the claims made by accuser’s lawyer will be refuted.
The victim doesn’t want to press charges though with her wanting to settle with Conor. Nothing is known about her identity currently.
