The accused was detained from outside the airport on Sunday evening as he was trying to flee the city and has been booked under section 108 of the BNS (abetment of suicide) after Prakriti was found dead in QC-4.
Lamsal’s cousin, Siddhant Sigdel, filed an FIR stating that she was continuously harassed and an audio clip featuring abuse from Srivastava surfaced online. KIIT claimed that Lamsal and Srivastava were in a relationship and that the suicide might have resulted from a personal dispute while Sunil Lamsal, father of the deceased Nepali student at KIIT University, stated that his daughter was harassed and emotionally blackmailed, leading to her suicide.
The death of Prakriti Lamsal is thought to have been caused by a romantic relationship with Advik Srivastava. Advik is a third-year student studying mechanical engineering in KIIT. He has been taken into custody by the police in relation to the event.
To keep the campus peaceful, the majority of students have been sent home by the university administration. In the course of their investigation, the police have confiscated laptops, cell phones, and other papers. According to Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra, the probe is still proceeding and the situation is under control.
A Nepali student, a third-year B-Tech student, was discovered dead in the dormitory yesterday, according to Dr. Shradhanjali Nayak, director of public relations at KIIT. It is believed that the student had a romantic relationship with another KIIT student.
