Age 20-yr-old New Mexico State University soccer player found dead at her home, know who was Thalia Chaverria and her cause or death 

Tragically, Thalia Chaverria, a football player at New Mexico State University, passed away not long after turning 20. Her death is the subject of a police inquiry but an official cause hasn’t been given currently.

There is, however, no proof of wrongdoing at this time. The police stated:

Las Cruces police and the New Mexico medical investigator’s office are investigating the death of New Mexico State Women’s Soccer player Thalia Chaverria who was found unresponsive at her residence Monday morning. About 7 a.m. Monday, July 10, Las Cruces police and fire personnel were dispatched to the report of an unresponsive woman at a home on the 2400 block of El Dorado Court in Las Cruces. The woman, identified as 20-year-old Thalia Chaverria, was deceased.”

Who was Thalia Chaverria?

Chaverria, a recent native of Bakersfield, had just turned 20 on July 2. At the aforementioned university, she was renowned for her extraordinary talent in football. In addition to her physical endeavours, she was a devoted “dog mom” to her cherished pets and a caring sister to her two brothers.

What is the cause Thalia Chaverria’s death?

At this point, investigators have no reason to believe Chaverria’s death is suspicious or the result of criminal activity. However, LCPD and OMI are continuing their investigation and hope to learn the cause of her death. The Las Cruces police and fire departments extend their condolences to Ms. Chaverria’s family, teammates, friends and the entire New Mexico State community.”

In order to assist Chaverria’s family through this trying time, a GoFundMe has been established, and it has already received over $27,000 in contributions. On July 10, 2023, when the police came at her home, they found her to be unresponsive. As the police are now conducting an investigation, more information regarding her cause of death is awaited.

Her jersey was hung in the locker area as an homage by New Mexico State University students. A tree will be decked with images of Chaverria as a memorial. The Aggie Health and Wellness Centre now has grief counsellors available for student-athletes.
