Panipak Wongpattanakit bio
Panipak Wongpattanakit is a Thai taekwondo athlete who was born on August 8, 1997, in ), Surat Thani, Thailand. She was born to parents, Sirichai Wongpattanakit, and Wantana Wongpattanakit, and goes by the nickname โTennisโ. Panipak is a two-time Olympic champion and currently the top-ranked athlete in the womenโs 49 kg weight class.
According to Panipak, she started practicing taekwondo just because she wanted to go to Phuket with her friend who was set to compete in taekwondo. Her father eventually allowed her to go on the condition that Panipak had to compete too. Panipak competed and lost every match at the event but soon started taking it seriously and soon became a professional taekwondo athlete.
A two-time Olympic champion, she is the top-ranked athlete in the women’s 49 kg.

Panipak Wongpattanakit is currently 27 years old and stands at a height of 1.71 m.
Career and achievements
Panipak Wongpattanakit won her first world title at the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships, in the 46 kg event. She then won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the โ49 kg class. The following year, she claimed a bronze medal in the women’s flyweight event at the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships.
She eventually won her first Asian Games gold medal during the 2018 edition in women’s 49kg event. Panipak then won another gold medal in the women’s flyweight event during the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships. That year, she won the Female Athlete of the Year during the 2019 World Taekwondo Gala Awards. She then went on to represent Thailand at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she claimed a gold medal in the women’s 49kg event. It was her first Olympic gold medal as well as the first for Thailand in taekwondo and the only gold for the country at the competition.
Panipak Wongpattanakit went on to win a silver in the women’s flyweight event at the Baku 2023 World Taekwondo Championships. That same year, she won her impressive tenth gold medal at the Rome Grand Prix in June 2023 in the women’s 49 kg event. She became the first athlete to achieve the feat.
And now, at the 2024 Summer Olympics Panipak won a gold medal again in the women’s taekwondo 49kg category. She became the first Thai athlete to win two consecutive Olympic gold medals as well as the first Thai to win three consecutive Olympic medals.
Awards
Panipak has so far received two prestigious awards from her native Thailand. She received a Companion (Third Class) medal of The Most Admirable Order of the Direkgunabhorn in 2020. She also received a Companion (Fourth Class) medal of The Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand in 2022.
