Hailing from a family deeply rooted in public service, Tenzing Yangki’s father, late Thupten Tempa worked for the Indian Revenue Service and the Indian Administrative Service before venturing into politics. The family’s commitment to public welfare dates back to Yangki’s grandfather, Nyerpa Khow, who played a pivotal role as the first political assistant in Tawang.

Tenzing Yangki of Arunachal Pradesh brought laurels for the state by securing 545th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination-2022 and became an officer in 2023. Yangki, who did her masters in politics and international relations from JNU, is a native of Khrimu village under Kitpi circle. Her DOB isn’t known though.

Her father, Late Thupten Tempa, was an IRS & IAS Officer and her grandfather, Late Nyerpa Khow, was instrumental in bringing Tawang region under Indian rule.

Tempa won from the Tawang constituency for three consecutive terms (1990-2004) and served as cabinet minister for all three terms in chief ministers Gegong Apang and Mukut Mithi ministries. He left behind an unparalleled development legacy in which ever portfolio he had served because of his political acumen, dedication to the cause of equality, fraternity and justice.

Yangki completed her education and earned her bachelor’s degree from Assam before enrolling at the esteemed Jawaharlal Nehru College of Delhi University to pursue her master’s degree in political science. She also graduated from the University of Warwick in England with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Economics, Politics, and Philosophy.
