Young and upcoming tennis star Victoria Mboko recently defeated world No. 3 Coco Gauff at the ongoing Canada National Bank Open 2025. Victoria dominated the game with her heavy hitting and composed shot selection, stunning the packed Montreal crowd. She managed to overwhelm the veteran in just 62 minutes and marked Mboko’s first top-10 win. She is only the second wildcard in Open Era history to ever knock out a top seed at the Canadian Open. Victoria Mboko is a young and upcoming tennis star who was born on August 26, 2006, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was raised in Toronto by Congolese immigrant parents and began her tennis journey as a toddler, before quickly falling in love with the game. Over the years, she has seen an incredible rise through the junior and professional ranks. She currently trains under former WTA star Nathalie Tauziat and she is known for her athleticism, powerful baseline game, and mature court presence despite her young age.

Victoria Mboko comes from a very close-knit and tennis-focused family. Her parents, Cyprien Mboko and Godee Kitadi, originally emigrated from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Victoria then made the doubles finals at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon with fellow Canadian Kayla Cross. Earlier this year, Victoria launched her breakout pro season, winning five ITF titles and making her debut at the Miami Open, where she reached the third round of the French Open.
