Burel started playing tennis at the age of six. Her parents, Vincent Burel and Stephanie Burel, raised her in Rennes, France and they later shifted to Angers. Burel is the middle child in the family and she has an elder sister, Lola Burel, and a younger one, Jade Burel.

Her career

Clara Burel’s rise in the tennis world started during her younger years when she won a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the Youth Summer Olympics and advanced to the singles final of renowned tournaments including the US Open and the Australian Open in 2018.

After winning her maiden major title at the ITF Junior Masters, she proceeded to maintain her success with a junior world No. 1 ranking. After turning to the professional circuit, Burel made her Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in 2019 and advanced to her maiden Pro Circuit final in 2018. She made a noteworthy development in 2020, qualifying for the French Open’s third round.
