Last year, Walter Clayton Jr. announced his decision to not participate in the NBA draft on Instagram with the straightforward caption, “1 more.”

His first season with the Florida Gators ended in 2023–24, with a 24-12 record. The Gators’ season ended with an upset loss to 10-seed Colorado in the first round of the NCAA tournament, despite a few notable victories, including victories over then-No. 10 Kentucky in January and in the SEC tournament, when they advanced to the championship game.

Clayton had unresolved matters. And something changed when he arrived at Florida during his junior season.

He appeared to have gained more strength after a demanding offseason when he walked into the foyer of a hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, for an SEC media day.

Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr. became immortal during the Gators’ 65-63 national championship win over Houston with 11 points on 3-of-10 shooting overall and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc and playing an integral non-scoring role (seven assists, five rebounds).

Clayton’s six games of 22 points per game on a 47/43/91 shooting slash electrified the country as he took his team to 2025 March Madness NCAA glory.

Walter hasn’t accomplished his objectives by himself. In addition to his girlfriend Burney, he has his family and friends by his side to help him cope with the burden of becoming a star in the NCAA.

Since Tatiyana Burney and Walter Clayton Jr. want to keep their relationship secret and away from the media and social media, not much is known about it. Consequently, the young lady only has 1600 Instagram followers, which is quite small.

Tatiyana Burney is from Florida, grew up in Gainsville, and is the mother of Clayton Jr.’s child, according to what the duo has revealed. While Tatiyana’s DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 20-25 while her boyfriend Clayton who has a net worth of $1.4 million is aged 22.

Leilani Leigh Clayton, the couple’s baby daughter, was born on 11, December 2023 at six pounds and seven ounces.

They have been dating since middle school and appear to have a good dynamic so far, even if they are not yet married. Originally from Lake Wales, Fla., Clayton Jr. and Burney first met in middle school and Clayton Jr.’s mom, Cherie Quarg, told the outlet that Burney has been a steady presence in her son’s life since high school.

“After I met [Tatiyana], I realized that she lets him be him,” she said. “She knows he’s busy with his sports and that he always has kind of put that first. She blended right in with our little family.”

After giving birth to Leilani, Burney moved three hours north to Gainsville to live with Clayton Jr. and support him in his final season at the University of Florida and Clayton isn’t shy about his love for Burney, often posting about her on social media and mentioning her in interviews with the two making their relationship public in 2022.

“All because of you, I’ma be a better man. Now I wanna do things I ain’t never did,” he wrote on Instagram in May 2022, quoting Kodak Black lyrics.
