About Tanya Soni
25 year old Tanya’s father, Vijay Kumar, told the media that his daughter had been studying at the centre for the past month after graduating with a BA in Political Science from a college in the Delhi University the national capital.
Tanya, a resident of Secunderabad, Telangana who was originally from Bihar’s Aurangabad, was a DU student.
Tanya Soni’s family was enroute from Mancherial, Telangana to Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, to enroll her younger sister for her B.Tech course when they received the news of her death.
“Tanya had completed her graduation in Delhi and was preparing for UPSC there. She had a strong interest in cracking UPSC since childhood,” Vijay Kumar said as he was on his way to take his daughter’s body from Delhi to their native place in Bihar.
The family was traveling by train to Lucknow when they received the devastating news of Tanya’s death. “After getting the information, we got down at Nagpur and took a flight to Delhi,” he added.
Kumar mentioned that Tanya’s body has been handed over to them and they are en route to Bihar for her last rites.

Tanya Soni’s Father
Vijay Kumar has been working with the state-run Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) in Telangana for the past 25 years and is currently a Deputy General Manager. The family resides in Mancherial.
The three UPSC aspirants, who lost their lives, were trapped inside the Rau IAS Study Circle’s library in the basement, which was flooded due to a sudden evening downpour in Delhi on Saturday.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy expressed their condolences on Sunday over the death of Tanya Soni.
In another update to the story, the owner of the coaching institute, Abhishek Gupta, was apprehended by the authorities along with the coordinator Deshpal Singh, on Sunday.
