In the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2008, he finished the tournament’s top-scorer with 262 runs, including a vital 43 in India’s victory in the final at an average of 52.40. He played for Uttarakhand in first-class cricket and also led them after Unmukt Chand was sacked as captain midway through the season and played 90 first-class matches and scored 4918 runs so far with him retiring in October 2020.
“I was an 11-year-old when I joined the Green Park cricket hostel to focus on cricket, that was my only passion. At 13, I represented India U-15 and it was a dream come true when I wore the Indian jersey. Year 2008 was all about winning the U-19 World Cup, and memories about holding the National Flag proudly still makes me go weak in my knees. I consider myself lucky to have played alongside and shared the dressing room with the greats of Indian and International cricket and I am humbled at how, even today most of them are just a call away, sharing their experiences to help me learn,” he had said at the time of his retirement.

Tanmay Srivastava is a former professional cricketer turned umpire who was born on November 7, 1989, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and is married to wife Reetika. Srivastava started out his career as a promising left-handed batsman and showcased immense potential from an early age. He notably played a crucial role in India’s U-19 World Cup win in 2008, where he finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer. He officially retired from professional cricket back in 2020.

Srivastava started out his cricketing journey with high expectations following his standout performance in the 2008 U-19 World Cup. His performances even earned him an IPL contract with the Kings XI Punjab squad for the IPL 2008 and 2009. Despite his limited game time in the IPL, Srivastava continued playing in India’s domestic cricket scene, where he represented Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy.
He eventually retired from professional cricket in 2020, and has since remained dedicated to the sport. Following his retirement, Tanmay Srivastava decided to pursue a career in umpiring. He soon passed the rigorous exams set by the BCCI, besides working as a talent scout for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Srivastava also served as a fielding coach for the U-16 players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Jammu & Kashmir. Srivastava has now been officially appointed as one of the on-field umpires for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
