Who is Oviya?
Born Helen Nelson into a Syrian Christian family in Thrissur, Kerala, Oviya pursued her education at Vimala College. Oviya started her acting career with supporting roles in Malayalam films, notably in Kangaroo and Puthiya Mukham, which starred Prithviraj. She also played a lead in the college drama Apoorva. While completing her BA in Functional English, she was discovered by director Sarkunam, who cast her in Kalavani after seeing her picture online.
Oviyaโs stint on Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Kamal Haasan, catapulted her to immense popularity. Known for her candidness and resilience in the face of bullying by fellow housemates, she quickly won over audiences.
