23-year-old Rupa Bayor was unaware of Taekwondo’s existence. Her hometown is the Sippi village in the Daporijo circle of Upper Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh. Her uncle is the district champion in karate. At first, she practiced karate. However, she never had enough cash to take part in competitions for Karate.
Her uncle suggested her to switch to Taekwondo and she has been playing Taekwondo since 2016. When she was little, her father passed away. Her mother raised Rupa and her other three siblings as a single parent and worked very hard. Even though things were difficult, she was determined not to let it get to me.
Yami Bayor, her mother, is in her early 40s.
Rupa player Poomsae which is a non-combative form of Taekwondo in which the competitors perform sequence of techniques linked together into a pattern of moves like the gymnastics routines to be evaluated by a panel of judges. She spends most of her time at the Indo-Korean Taekwondo Academy in Mumbai, her training base since 2021 when her coach Abhishek Dubey to the training.

Rupa Bayor career
The ascent of Rupa Bayer to the top of the global rankings began in 2021, when she was rated 123rd. As of right now, she is placed ninth in the taekwondo world rankings. She moved up the rankings gradually, coming in at 42nd in 2022 and 12th in 2023. Rupa is the first athlete from India to accomplish this feat in any discipline of Taekwondo, hence this amazing accomplishment represents a crucial turning point for the sport.
