Born in Illinois, 24-year-old Valerie Rose Tarazi comes from a family of Orthodox Christians who originally came from Gaza.
She was born on October 9, 1999, and raised in Illinois, USA and has always had a deep love for swimming. Her path has been one of unwavering devotion, which has led to her becoming an Olympian. She graduated from Auburn University in May of last year with a Master’s degree in supply chain management.
Swimmer Valerie Tarazi, 24, has both Palestinian and US citizenship and was born to parents Marty and Jana Tarazi. Her height stands at 5 feet 10 inches.

Valerie Rose Tarazi successfully completed the Olympic trials for the Paris Games after more than 20 years of practice. Valerie did quite well at the Sport Games Algeria 2023 last year, taking home medals in a number of different events. She won gold in the 50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter backstroke, silver in the 200-meter breaststroke, 100-meter butterfly, and bronze in the 50-meter backstroke.
Valerie presented herself and Palestine to the world at a two-week summit in Olympia, Greece, while en route to join the Palestinian Olympic squad. She made her formal team debut at this event, when she gave a speech about unity and the Olympic spirit.
Olympians are disciplined people, and Valerie is no different. She talked about her experience on social media, sharing how difficult it was for her to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Swimming Trials at the age of 16.
