Compelled by her parents, Vora gave up her internship with a prestigious law firm to marry a man who was supposedly an engineer and ran a printing press in Baruch, Gujarat. This claim was later revealed to be false, and the marriage ended bitterly. She moved back to her maternal home in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, in May 2004 to pursue her career in media while raising her four-year-old son.

Jigna Vora was arrested by the Mumbai police as one of the two main suspects in the murder of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey (J Dey). The other one was underworld gangster Chhota Rajan. She was charged with giving details about Dey but denied all the allegations. According to him, he only contacted the gangster for an interview.
After nine months in jail, she was released on bail from Byculla in 2012. After seven years, in 2018, she was cleared of all the accusations due to a lack of evidence.
