On January 10, an NYPD cop apparently committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of an apartment complex in broad daylight. Just before noon, Steven Hernandez, 28, was declared dead at the Lefrak City Apartments in Flushing, Queens.
According to reports, he had just left an appointment with the department psychiatrist when he jumped to his death, leading police to suspect it was a suicide.

Who was Steven Hernandez?
Steven Hernandez was an NYPD police officer. He was in the news because he passed away recently at the age of 28.
He was a native of Manhatten, New York, USA. However, he was living in Staten Island’s 121st Precinct before his death. It’s still unclear if he lived there or if the nearby Medical Division just invited him as a visitor.
According to his Facebook profile, his father’s name is Efrain Hernandez. He attended Ralph R. McKee Vocational & Technical High School.
He was married and a father of two children. However, nothing much is known about her family. It is also not known if he was living with his family or not.
When he died, he was 28 years old.
Why did he commit suicide?
Sources claim that Steven Hernandez was put on restricted duty and that his service weapons had been removed. He was given a desk assignment by the NYPD, although the reason for this has not been made public.
