Non-Liverpool fans might be perplexed to see Stefan Bajcetic in the Reds’ starting lineup against Pep Guardiola’s club, know his age, height, dad and position
Some of Jurgen Klopp’s regular starters are still resting after the World Cup, so the German coach may start some youngsters tonight at the Etihad Stadium. Although he has only recently returned to training, Bajcetic looks like a good contender to replace Fabinho in the holding midfielder role.

Considering that Fabinho has only just returned to training this week, Bajcetic appears to be a leading candidate to take over the holding midfield job.
Bajcetic, who is 18 years old, was born in the Spanish province of Galicia, in the city of Vigo. His dad, Srdjan, was a player for Celta Vigo from ’94 to ’97, and the family moved back to the city the year Stefan was born, ’04.
It’s no surprise that Bajcetic got his start in the league with Celta Vigo, having signed with the team in 2013 before Liverpool came knocking. In 2020, the Reds paid roughly £224,000 to bring Bajcetic to Anfield after successfully negotiating a contract.
The Athletic said that Liverpool had successfully persuaded Stefan Bajcetic to choose Merseyside over Old Trafford. In Liverpool’s lineup, the adolescent has primarily served as a holding midfielder, but he has also seen time at centre back and right back.
Bajcetic is highly regarded at Anfield after making five appearances for the main team. Pepijn Lijnders, Bajcetic’s coach at Liverpool, told This Is Anfield that Klopp said, “amazing,” while discussing Bajcetic’s maturity on the field.
Bajcetic has three caps for Spain’s Under-18 team and could one day make a final decision on whether to represent Serbia or Spain in international competition. His father, Srdan Bajcetic, was a midfielder who spent much of his career in Spain, Portugal and Serbia and is now a youth coach at Celta Vigo.
He signed a new deal with the club recently after only signing his first professional contract in November with his annual salary at 135,000 pounds.
