Mohamed Shiraz bio and age

Mohamed Shiraz who is a Muslim by religion is a Sri Lankan cricketer who was born on February 13, 1995, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He mainly plays as a right-arm medium fast bowler and made his first-class debut for Colts Cricket Club in the 2016–17 Premier League Tournament back on November 29, 2016. Shiraz is currently 29 years old and has the ability to bowl at speeds of up to 140kph. He made his List A debut for Kegalle District during the 2016–17 Districts One Day Tournament on March 19, 2017.

Mohamed Shiraz makes ODI debut

Shiraz recently got the chance to feature in his ODI debut following the likes of Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka, Matheesha Pathirana, and Nuwan Thushara suffering injuries. Despite the setback for Sri Lanka, the Kandy-born pacer got the chance to announce himself at the international circuit.

Moreover, he recently recorded impressive figures of 6 for 21 for Burgher Recreation Club against Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club on Tuesday, July 30. This also played a major role for the bowler to feature for The Lions.

Mohamed Shiraz career and stats

Mohamed Shiraz started out his cricketing journey in 2008 when he was just 13 years old. He played for his college Madeena Central and trained under coach Mohammed Rikaas and Mohammed Rajmi during his childhood. Shiraz went on to make his domestic cricket debut for Colts Cricket Club back in November 2016. It was during the first-class tournament of Premier League Tournament Tier A.

However, he earned his major breakthrough during the year 2018 when playing for Burgher Recreation Club. Mohamed Shiraz recorded a total of 21 wickets, including two back-to-back five-wicket hauls. Following his magnificent outing, he earned a call up for the Sri Lanka A team in 2019 against Ireland A.

The fast pacer picked up a total of four wickets on his debut innings, claiming six in total. Over the years, the right-arm pacer excelled and eventually made his way to the Sri Lankan team. Up until now, Mohamed Shiraz has claimed 80 dismissal from 47 List A matches at an average of 17.52. He has also recorded three five-wicket hauls, including a (6/21) against Kurunegala.
