Because of his outstanding performance in domestic cricket, Liyanage was drafted into the Sri Lankan team for this series. With just his second ODI under his belt, Liyanage led the hosts to an unforgettable victory. In 2.2 overs, SL was reduced to 16/2, and he moved to the middle.

Sri Lankan cricket player Janith Liyanage was born on July 12, 1995 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The 28-year-old player’s full name is Kongala Liyanage Janith Vimukthi. He is single and unmarried. Details about his religion aren’t known.
In February 2022, he made his debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team on the international front. On January 16, 2015, he made his debut in the 2014–15 Premier Trophy for Ragama Cricket Club. He was added to Galle’s roster in March 2018 for the Super Four Provincial Tournament of 2017–18.
Additionally, he was included in Galle’s squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament the next month. After the players’ draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League, he was chosen to play for the Dambulla Giants in November 2021.
