25-year-old Priya Saroj belongs to the Samajwadi Party. Priya completed her education at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi. She also holds an LLB from Amity University in Noida and a BA from Delhi University. She then began working as a lawyer at the Supreme Court.
Priya Saroj is among the youngest members of the Lok Sabha to have been elected. She is the daughter of three-time MP Toofani Saroj. He is a member of the Samajwadi Party and has won the Lok Sabha seats in Saidpur, Ghazipur, and Machhlishahr, Jaunpur in the 1999, 2004 & 2009 Indian general elections.
He was once again the Samajwadi Party’s nominee from Machhali Shahar (a Lok Sabha constituency) in the 16th Loksabha Elections of 2014. In the Narendra Modi wave, he ran for office but was defeated by Ram Charitra Nishad of the Bhartiya Janta Party. He received 191,387 (19.18%) of the total votes cast.
In the general elections of 2024 in India, Priya Saroj was chosen to serve as a member of parliament representing the Machhlishahr Lok Sabha constituency. She won by 35850 votes.
