Yang Ji-in of the Republic of Korea clinched the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol shooting at the Paris 2024 Olympics, earning the nation’s first title in this event since the London 2012 Games. Ranked as the world’s No. 1 in this event, Yang triumphed over France’s Camille Jedrzejewski with a 4-1 victory in a gripping shoot-off. Jedrzejewski secured the silver medal, marking France’s first shooting medal of Paris 2024 and their first in women’s shooting since 2012.

The bronze medal went to Veronika Major of Hungary, who topped the qualifying round with a score of 592-27x, tying the Olympic qualification record. This is Hungary’s first medal in the women’s 25m pistol event and their first Olympic medal in women’s shooting since Athens 2004. Major, a former junior world champion in the 10m running target in 2014 and 2016, transitioned to pistol shooting after the running target event was removed from the Olympic program.

Elsewhere, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker failed to finish on the podium after she lost in the 3rd place shoot-off against Veronika. Earlier, Manu clinched bronze medals in the women’s 10m pistol and the mixed team 10m pistol event.
