South Korea’s Kim Yeji has won the silver medal in Paris
In the women’s 10-meter air pistol shooting event at the Paris Summer Games on Sunday, South Korean shooters Oh Ye-jin and Kim Ye-ji won gold and silver medals, respectively.

In the championship match at the Chateauroux Shooting Center in Chateauroux, south of Paris, Oh Ye-jin scored 243.2 points, defeating Kim Ye-ji by 1.9 points. With 221.7 points, Indian Manu Bhaker claimed the bronze medal.
Oh, 19, broke the previous mark of 240.3 points set by Russian Vitalina Batsarashkina at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics to become the new Olympic record holder on her debut.
“She is like my youngest sibling, and I always want to care for her and always be there for her. So, when she won the gold medal, I was extra happy,” said silver medalist Kim, who is 12 years older than Oh.
Though Kim and Oh broke Olympic records and were roommates but they were not rivals even during the gold medal shootout.
31-year-old Kim Ye-ji was born on 4 September 1992 in Danyang. Kim attended Danyang Middle School and Chungbuk Physical Education High School. She has a 6-year-old daughter named Minso who was born in 2018.

Kim Ye-ji career and achievements
Kim Ye-ji is a pistol shooter from South Korea. In the women’s 10-meter air pistol competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Kim Ye-ji took home the silver medal.
Three years prior, in Tokyo, Russian shooter Vitalina Batsarashkina established the record for the women’s 10-meter air pistol final at 240.3. Not one of the few Russians competing as Individual Neutral Athletes in Paris is Batsarashkina.
Oh’s shooting gold medal was the first to be won by a nation other than China at the 2024 Olympics. China won the men’s 10-meter air pistol gold on Saturday and the women’s gold on Sunday.
Xie Yu defeated two Italian shooters with a score of 240.9 to win the gold medal. Federico Nilo Maldini took home the silver medal with 240, while Paolo Monna had the lead halfway through the competition but was eliminated in third place with 218.6 due to several expensive mistakes.
