All three rounds won by her go like 11-5, 11-2, 11-3 which represents she clearly outperforms her competitor. Sonalben Patel said in a statement given to ANI,
“I am very happy as it is my first medal in singles at Commonwealth Games. I dedicate this medal to my husband, family, coach and all countrymen.”

Who Is Sonalben Patel?
Sonalben Patel is a well-known international Para table tennis player from India. She was recently in news she won the bronze medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
Her full name is Sonalben Manubhai Patel. She was born on 15 September 1987 in Viramgam, Gujarat, India. Her father’s name is Manubhai Patel and her mother’s name is Labhuben Patel.
She was initially identified as having polio at the age of six months, which ultimately affected both her legs and her right hand, leaving her with a 90% impairment.
She did her schooling at Geeta Higher Secondary School in her hometown. After getting rejected from various colleges, she joined a college named Blind People’s Association and pursued a diploma in ITI there.
She is married and her husband’s name is Ramesh Chaudhary who is also a para-athlete. Presently, she is 36 years old.
Her Career
Initially, she started playing table tennis as a hobby. However, after getting enough motivation, she took it as a career.
Sonalben Patel was persuaded to start playing table tennis by Ms. Lakhia of the Blind People’s Association of Ahmedabad, and she soon started training professionally under the direction of her instructor Lalan Doshi.
She is participating in class 3 wheelchair table tennis. She took part in her first Paralympic competition in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Since 2008, she has competed in a number of regional, national, and international events.
She had earned two gold medals, four silver medals, and six bronze medals as of August 2022.
