The veteran college soccer coach recalled that 3 decades ago his former player came to him as he admitted while crying that he had kicked his future wife and “apologized profusely.”
For those who are unversed, let us tell you, Gregg stated that he had yelled at his then-girlfriend, Rosalind Santana, after drinking at a bar.
Bolowich in 2020 was employed in George Mason University and had annual salary of $115,000 according to public records.

As per the statement given by Bolowich, who coached at the US Hall of Famer Eddie Pope for around 22 years as the head coach, the 18-year-old old freshman was so regretful of his behaviour that he came to seek counseling.
The event wasn’t made public until the player turned 49 claiming that a “third party” had leaked information about the fight to sack him as the head of the coach.
For those who are curious about the incident, let us tell you, as per a report by DailyMail, in a lengthy mea culpa, Berhalter wrote, “One night, while out drinking at a local bar, Rosalind and I had a heated argument that continued outside.
It became physical and I kicked her in the legs. There are zero excuses for my actions that night; it was a shameful moment and one that I regret to this day.”
He further added, “At that time, I immediately apologized to Rosalind … while the authorities were never involved in this matter, I voluntarily sought out counseling to help learn, grow and improve, one of the most valuable decisions that ever made. To this day, that type of behavior has never been repeated.”
As per another report, Bolowich recalled Berhalter breaking down and crying as he confessed to drinking before the event. The future US’ national team didn’t reveal the specifics of the incident involving 49-year-old Rosalind, with whom Berhalter reconciled and married a few months later.
The couple share 4 children together and have been married for around 25 years.
For those who are unfamiliar with Elmar Bolowich, let us tell you, the former player has served as the men’s soccer coach for Tar Heels in between 1988 to 2010.
Following that, he went on and held the same position at George Mason as well as Creighton. Presently he is serving as the head of the youth soccer squad.
Earlier, a total of 45 students of Bolowich had gone on to play professionally in Major league Soccer. Six out of these students have joined the US national team.
