Zhao Xintong bio

Zhao Xintong is a renowned Chinese snooker player who was born on April 3, 1997, in Xi An, China. Nicknamed “the cyclone”, Zhao attracted major attention as a teenager after bursting onto the snooker scene with his fearless style. He mainly plays left-handed and quickly became a fan favorite with his charismatic playstyle. He suffered a major setback following his involvement in a high-profile match-fixing scandal back in 2023.

Although Zhao did not fix any matches himself, he was found guilty of being complicit in another player’s match-fixing. As a result, he had to endure a 20-month suspension, reduced from 30 months.

The 28-year-old is playing as an amateur in Sheffield, and before the start of the season hadn’t competed in a professional tournament since 2022 despite having won a Triple Crown title.

Zhao’s ban expired in September and he has been playing on the amateur Q Tour since then, where he won tournaments in Manchester, Sweden, Austria and Belgium, while making two 147 breaks in the process, the first player ever to make a maximum on that circuit. He was ranked number 9 in the world before his ban. He is currently single and unmarried.
