Artemijs Zizins qualifies
Artemijs Zizins is a young and upcoming teenage snooker star who recently made history after qualifying for the World Snooker Tour. Despite having never before competed in a professional event before as an amateur wildcard, Artemijs surpassed all expectations. Moreover, he was also new to the conditions of a World Snooker Tour event.
Zizins is also the first player from Latvia to ever qualify for the event. The teenager is just 18 years old, and he was one of several players under 30 who qualified for the event from either the UK or Asia-based Q Schools.

Artemijs Zizins is a Latvian professional snooker player who was born on June 2, 2006, and he is currently 18 years old. The youngster recently earned a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour beginning with the 2024/25 snooker season. He is also notably the first ever professional snooker player from Latvia.

Career
Artemijs Zizins started out his snooker journey when he was just five years old after watching the sport on Eurosport. He eventually started competing regularly in multi-national and international amateur events at the age of 10. Zizins won the under-16 championship title back at the 2022 European Amateur Snooker Championships, becoming a continental champion.
Just one year later, the teenager reached the semi-finals of the under-18s and quarter-finals of the under-21s. The following year, in 2023, Zizins won his maiden Latvian National Snooker Championship. He won it just a few days before defending the national crown in the title contest. Zizins also competed on the UK/Europe Q Tour during the 2023/24 amateur season, making a run to the last 16.
Artemijs Zizins then reached the last four at the 2024 European Amateur Snooker Championships in both the under-18 and 21 categories. The youngster has now most recently secured a tour card in his most recent outing in Leicester.
