During the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday, 15-year-old Chen Ye of the People’s Republic of China defeated two seasoned Japanese skateboarders to win the men’s skateboarding park competition.

Chen triumphed in a thrilling contest with a score of 84.41 points, defeating Japan’s Yuro Nagahara by just 0.41 points. Japan’s Kensuke Sasaoka, the reigning winner of the Asiad, had to settle for third place after tripping during his first several runs.
While interacting with the media, Chen Ye said with joy,
Winning the gold medal is beyond my expectations. Japanese boarders are very competitive, and I have learned a lot from them.
On the other hand, Sasaoka expressed sadness about not being able to successfully defend his title but was happy with his efforts in the third run and pledged to improve in the future. However, Chen Ye’s gold medal has become the talk of the town as he became the youngest Chinese skateboarder to win the race in the history of the Asian Games.

Who is Chen Ye?
Chen Ye is a renowned Chinese skateboarder. He has been in the news because he recently won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2023.
He is a native of the People’s Republic of China and his father’s name is Chen Wanqin. His father left his work and later started a skate shop so he could go with his kid to skateboarding lessons and contests. Even better, he bought an abandoned factory and constructed a skatepark for his son’s daily practice.
Chen Ye is currently 15 years old.
His career
At just 13 years old when he first developed an interest in skateboarding, it only took Chen Ye three years to advance to the Guangdong skateboarding squad and place second in the men’s bowl pool event at the 2021 National Games.
Chen Ye won the very contested men’s bowl pool division at the tryouts the following year for the national skateboard training squad. With this victory, he not only cemented his domination in the sport but also secured the right to compete for China in skateboarding at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.
