Is Romain Saiss Married And Who Is His Wife
According to various sources, Romain Saiss is indeed married to his wife Salma Rachid since 2016.
Rachid is a singer, who found fame on Arabic version of Pop Idol and the 28-year-old is married to Morocco defender Romain Saiss. They have one son called Yanis, who was born in 2019.
Club Career And Highlights
At the age of 21 Romain Saïss signed his first professional contract with Clermont in Ligue 2 back in 2011. In June 2013, Roman signed a two-year contract with Le Havre. He then went on to sign a two-year contract with Ligue 1 club Angers.
Later, on in 30 August 2016, he made a move to England, after signing a four-year contract with the then EFL Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers. It was here that Romain got his big break in his career.
He made his Wolves debut on September 17 during a 2-0 win over Newcastle United. Romain quickly followed up with his first Wolves goal on September 30, 2017, in a 4-0 win against Burton Albion.
Romain made his Premier League debut on 22 September 2018 as a substitute during a 1-1 draw with Man Utd. He started his first game in a 1-2 away loss to Cardiff City on 30 November.
The following year on July 25, 2019, Romain made his UEFA European club football debut. He came on as a late substitute during his team’s 2-0 home win against Crusaders during a 2019-20 UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round. He followed up with his first UEFA competition goal on October 24 in a 2-1 away win at Slovan Bratislava.
Romain announced his departure from Wolves on May 31, 2022, after his contract ends on July 1, 2022. He played about 206 games for the Premier League club across six seasons. He has since moved to join Turkish Süper Lig club Beşiktaş, where he made his debut on August 6.
International Career Highlights And Achievements
Although Romain Saiss was born and raised in France, he chose to play for his native Morocco national football team. He made his debut for the Atlas Lions during a 1-0 friendly loss to Togo back in November 2012.
Romain went on to play his first major tournament for his national side in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. The team managed to reach the quarterfinals. He scored his first international goal during a 3-1 win over Togo during the group stages of the torunament.
Later, Saiss featured in the 23-man squad for the Moroccan national side during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He featured in two group games against Iran and Spain. He was later named as the Atlas Lions captain when Morocco advanced to the last 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Romain has most recently featured in the 23-man Morocco national side for the ongoing FIFA World Cup in 2022.
