The two sisters of the singer reportedly died of cancer, according to many sources. In the wake of a protracted struggle with breast cancer, Lucy passed away on Thursday, while Joanna passed away on Wednesday from thyroid cancer.
At the time of their death, Lucy was 82 years old while Joanna was 85 years old. As far as is known, Lucy passed away in her Piedmont, New York, home, whilst Joanna reportedly passed away in a hospital in Manhattan.

She was born in New York City on June 25, 1943, or 1945. Her mother was Andrea Heinemann Simon, a civil rights activist, and singer, and her father was Richard L. Simon, a co-founder of Simon & Schuster.
She grew up in the Bronx’s Riverdale area. Joanna and Lucy were her two older sisters, while Peter was her younger brother. They received a nominal Catholic upbringing.
Carly Simon did her schooling at Riverdale Country School. Later, she attended Sarah Lawrence College for at least four semesters. She went to the Juilliard School of Music as well. In 1998 she was awarded an honorary doctor of music degree from Berklee College of Music.
Following a brief engagement to British author William Donaldson, Simon married fellow musician James Taylor, and the union lasted from 1972 until 1983. They have two kids: Sarah “Sally” Maria Taylor and Benjamin “Ben” Simon Taylor.
