Who’s Shweta Sehrawat?
For those who are curious to know more about the opening batter of the U-19 women’s T20 World Cup team, let us tell you, Shweta, who currently plays for Delhi Women’s cricket team was born on February 26, 2004.
Sehrawat was the vice-captain of Indian women’s national u-19 team for 2023 ICC u-19 women’s T20 World Cup.
She first played for Delhi Women’s under-19 team back in October 2018. The right handed batter made her domestic debut for Delhi Women’s team back in March 2021.
On March 17 of the same year, Shweta achieved her maiden List-A hundred after she scored a total of 118 against Meghalaya women’s team.
However, in May 2021, NCA chief, VVS Laxman, revealed that she would not be able to attend the camp because of her 12th board examinations.
However, she drafted an email of the Chief Laxman to let her attend the second half of the camp, which the chief had approved. In the second match of camp, Sehrawat scored a century. She scored a total of 200 runs in 6 matches.
She was coached by Dipti Dhyani, who’s a former Indian cricketer and coaches at Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi. In an earlier conversation, Dhyani described Sehrawat as a bottom handed player who’s pretty good at using her feet and spinning.
In December 2022, she was selected as vice-captain of the under-19 T20 Indian squad which won the T20 World Cup trophy.
In the inaugural match of the tournament, Sehrawat, scored a total of 92 runs in 52 balls against South Africa.
Shweta Sehrawat’s father, Sanjay Sehrawat, is a real estate agent and mother is a homemaker. She has an elder sister, Swati Sehrawat. 18 year old Shweta has been into sports from her pre-teens as her father took her to the academy where his elder daughter trained as a bowler.
