India’s Divya TS and Sarabjot Singh just missed out on the gold medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event at the Asian Games 2023 on Saturday. At the Asian Games in Hangzhou, Divya and Sarabjot finished in second place, bringing India’s total number of shooting medals to 19.
At the continental competitions, the Indian shooting team has won six gold, eight silver, and five bronze medals.

Divya Thadigol Subbaraju was born on August 14, 1994, and hails from Bengaluru. Divya suffered injuries in an unfortunate accident while undergoing national selection trial training in Bhopal. Although she was in pain and had poor vision, she continued practicing and joined the Indian squad for the competition in Cairo in 2023.

T S Divya initially enjoyed playing basketball; however, in 2016, she was forced to stop playing the sport. Her brother had persuaded her to give shooting a try.
Her transition to the national circuit went just as smoothly. She frequently took home medals in the women’s 10m air pistol and 25m sports pistol competitions at the State Championships. The 26-year-old Karnataka athlete won the women’s 10 metre air pistol silver and gold in the fifth and sixth Indian team trials, respectively. At the National Games, Divya won the bronze medal.
Initially, she found it difficult to manage funds to play on international honour.
While going through her struggling day, she said, “My family is currently helping me. I intend to compete seriously in the 25m and 50m events this year, but the equipment, training, and competition costs are high. I utilise the rifle association’s shared weapon since I don’t own one. I recently received my all-India licence, allowing me to buy and import my own weapons and ammo.”
