Know more about Rajesh Shah, the deputy leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, who is making headlines following his arrest on Sunday in connection with a Mumbaiโs Worli area hit-and-run case involving his son Mihir Shah, in which a BMW killed a woman on a bike.
For the unfamiliar, a woman died on Sunday morning in Mumbaiโs Worli area when her two-wheeler was struck by a BMW. The car was allegedly driven by 24-year-old Mihir Shah, the son of Rajesh Shah, a leader from CM Eknath Shindeโs Shiv Sena.
Mihir Shah, Rajesh’s son who was involved in the accident, reportedly lived at the Borivali residence and was not much known in Palghar with him currently on the run. He had allegedly visited his girlfriend after killing a woman in the accident.

According to media reports, Rajesh is known to be a close aide of the Maharashtra CM, with their relationship dating back to before the 2022 Shiv Sena split.
The politician is highly regarded within the party for his management skills and networking among various communities in and around Palghar.

The Shinde faction leader hails from a business family and has considerable control over the scrap business in the MIDC complex and industrial areas around Palghar. He also supplies construction materials.
Shah & Shindeโs Relationship Explored
Shah connected with Shinde, who worked in and around Thane in the early 2000s.
At that time, the then-undivided Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray had entrusted Shinde with party-related responsibilities in Thane and Palghar, and Shinde turned to Shah for assistance.

An office bearer in Shiv Sena (UBT) told the media that there was once a dispute between two groups in an industrial unit, during which a poster of party founder Balasaheb Thackeray was damaged.
Shah, expected to protest as the district chief of the party, did little, and when local office bearers reported this to the party leadership, no action was taken, likely due to Shahโs close association with Shinde, the Individual recounted.
What Did Party Workers Say About Shah?
Workers in both factions have praised Shahโs management, negotiation skills, and financial power.
Shah owns houses in Palgharโs Kelve-Mahim area and Borivali. He is known for maintaining cordial relations with everyone in Palghar, attending local functions like Ram Navami and Ambedkar Jayanti, and assisting local organizers.
He also conducts meetings with local office bearers, community leaders, and organizations as part of the partyโs election management.
โIn April 2023, CM Shinde appointed Kundan Sankhe as the district chief of the party in Palghar for organizational reasons.
But he made Shah the deputy leader of Palghar to indicate that he had not been sidelined,โ a Shiv Sena office-bearer from Palghar told the reporters earlier.
Mihir Shah, Rajeshโs son involved in the accident, reportedly lived at the Borivali residence and was not well-known in Palghar.
The leader noted that Mihir did visit Palghar occasionally, mainly for work related to the family business.
Though not heavily involved in political activities, Mihir spent time with his father, a party leader revealed. Another leader described Mihir as a โyoung boy who loved a lavish lifestyle.โ
