One name that has come out after the horrifying and gory murder of Bangladesh MP Anwarul Azim Anar in Kolkata is Shilasti Rahman.
On May 12, Anwarul Azim Anar, the MP representing Bangladesh, travelled to Kolkata for medical care. Before going missing a few days later, he was living with Gopal Biswas. His body was skinned, sliced up and packed into plastic packages that were then discarded all around the city. He was last seen at an upscale apartment block in New Town, on the outskirts of the capital of Bengal. Shilasti Rahman is the name being connected to Anar’s murder.

Shilasti Rahman has been detained by Dhaka police and police in Kolkata made a breakthrough Friday morning in arresting Jihad Hawladar, who has directed the cops to at least four other Bangladesh nationals who may have been involved in the murder.
That list includes Akhtaruzzaman, a United States citizen of Bangladeshi origin, who might be the mastermind and was known to Shilasti Rahman with reports claiming she was his girlfriend. He may have paid ₹ 5 crore to Mr Anar’s killers but Akhtaruzzaman’s location is unknown at this time; police believe he may be in the US.
The flat where Mr Anar was murdered and dismembered was rented to a friend of Akhtaruzzaman by the owner, who is a state government employee.

Who is Shilasti Rahman?
MP Anwarul Azim Anar was brutally murdered on May 13 after being drawn to flat number 56 in BU Block, Sanjeeva Gardens, Newtown, Kolkata.
He was killed by strangulation, and his body was cut up and thrown in a trolley bag. The probe is under additional strain now that MP Anar’s daughter, Dorin, has filed a charge with the Sher e Bangla Nagar police station in Dhaka.
Akhtaruzzaman Shahin, who is thought to have planned the murder because of a business dispute with MP Anar, is a key figure in the inquiry. But Shahin didn’t take the lead. One important character in this grim story is a young woman by the name of Shilasti Rahman.
Shahin’s girlfriend, Shilasti Rahman, is thought to have been a key player in the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar. According to the authorities, she served as a “honey trap” to entice MP Anar to commit suicide. Her role became more evident after she was detained and questioned by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Intelligence Department (DB).
Sources inside the DB claim that on May 15, Shilasti and the principal killer, Amanullah, took an aircraft back to Dhaka. This information is consistent with the account of a Kolkata-based source who stated that on May 13, she saw two men and a woman enter the flat, but the next day, she only saw a man and a woman leave. The woman is suspected of being Shilasti Rahman, which adds to her involvement in the offence.
According to investigators, Shahin carefully thought out the murder and left Kolkata on May 10th, having put everything in place. Suspicion regarding Shilasti’s crucial involvement was strengthened by the fact that she stayed behind to make sure the plan was carried out.
