For the position of Mayor of Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has put Shelly Oberoi up. In earlier this month’s elections, the AAP triumphed, ending the BJP’s 15-year dominance at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Until the MCD was divided into the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation in 2012, Delhi had a single mayor overseeing the entirety of the city. Early this year, the merger took place and as a result of it, Delhi will again have a single mayor after ten years.
While the BJP has declared that it would not run in the upcoming mayoral elections on January 6, therefore Shelly Oberoi is poised to take away the victory.
In accordance with the law, the MCD must choose five mayors during a five-year period, starting with a woman. The position shall be filled by an elected council member from a Scheduled Caste in the third year.

Shelly Oberoi is an Indian politician from Delhi. She has been in the news because she was recently selected for the position of Mayor of Delhi by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
She is pursuing a doctorate in philosophy from the School of Management Studies (SOMS), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Additionally, she has received the best paper prizes at several national and international conferences. At the ICA Conference, he also took home a gold medal (the Prof. Manubhai Shah Award). In addition, she received the “Miss Kamla Rani Prize” and was given a scholarship for having the best grades in college.
She is also associated with Indian Commerce Association as a lifetime member.
She was chosen to serve as a councilor for West Delhi’s East Patel Nagar ward. She worked at Delhi University as an assistant professor. She is 39 years old right now.
